Disco Dessert 11/20/20 - "Sunny" from Yambu...

 

 

"Sunny" was a club hit for the studio act Yambu, put together by Puerto Rican producer Al Santiago.  Appearing on their first album Al Santiago presents Yambu, it's a cover of the #2 pop hit from Bobby Hebb in 1966. The song was written by Hebb and this mostly-instrumental disco conversion was produced by Santiago. On Record World magazine's Disco File Top-20 chart, the single went to #3 in 1975. It also made the R&B top-40 in Billboard magazine at #39.
