Disco Dessert 11/15/20 - "I'll Play The Fool" from Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band...

"I'll Play The Fool" was a club hit for the big-band style group Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band. Appearing on their self-titled debut album, the song was written by brothers Stony Browder and Thomas Browder (aka August Darnell), and produced by Sandy Linzer. On Billboard magazine's National Disco Action chart, the entire album charted as a single entry, with "Cherchez La Femme", "Sour and Sweet", and "I'll Play the Fool" listed as key cuts. The record spent a week at #1 there in 1976. "I'll Play The Fool" also charted on its own as a single on the American pop chart at #80, and at R&B at #92, and was a top-40 hit in the Netherlands at #19.
