Songoftheday 9/14/20 - I had some problems that no one could seem to solve them, but you had the answer you told me to take a chance...

"Ghetto Love" - Da Brat featuring T-Boz
from the album Anuthatantrum (1996)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #16 (two weeks)
Weeks in the Top-40: 5

Today's song of the day comes from rapper Da Brat, who had landed a top-40 pop hit with the lead single from her sophomore album Anuthatantrum, "Sittin' On Top Of The World", in the fall of 1996.  Her follow-up single paired Da Brat up with 1/3 of one of the biggest acts at the time in any genre, T-Boz of TLC. "Ghetto Love", written by the rapper with producer Jermaine "JD" Dupri that rode on a sample of Debarge's 1983 R&B classic "All This Love", proved to be the bigger hit from the set. It would be T-Boz's second top-40 solo-billed pop hit after "Touch Myself" in the summer of 1996...

"Ghetto Love" became Da Brat's fifth top-40 pop hit in March of 1997. The song climbed to #11 on Billboard magazine's R&B chart, while hitting #4 on their Rap Singles list.
