Disco Dessert 9/18/20 - "Quiet Village" from the Ritchie Family...

"Quiet Village" was a massive club hit for the Ritchie Family. Appearing on their album African Queens, the song was a disco remake of the 1951 pre-rock pop instrumental from conductor Les Baxter that was made famous in 1959 with the lounge jazz version from pianist Martin Denny. On Billboard magazine's National Disco Action Top-40 chart, the African Queens album was listed as a single entry, with "Quiet Village", "African Queens", and "Summer Dance" listed as key cuts. The record spent three weeks at #1 there in 1977, while making it to #68 on the R&B chart.
