"Runaway Love" was a big club hit for singer and actress Linda Clifford.  Appearing on her album If My Friends Could See Me Now, the song was written and produced by Gil Askey. On Billboard magazine's National Disco Action Top-40 chart, the album was listed as a single entry, with "If My Friends Could See Me Now", "Gypsy Lady", and "Runaway Love" listed as key cuts. The record spent five weeks at #1 there in 1978, while "Runaway Love" peaked at #3 on their R&B chart as well.
