Disco Dessert 5/3/20 - "Celebration" from Kool & The Gang...

"Celebration" was a massive radio and club hit for the New Jersey-based funk/soul band Kool & The Gang. Written and produced by the group with Eumir Deodato, the now wedding reception classic appeared on their album Celebration. On Billboard magazine's Disco Top 100 chart, the Celebration album charted as one entry, with "Celebration" and "Take It To The Top" listed as key cuts. The record spent five weeks as #1 there, as well as taking a pair of weeks on top of the pop chart and six on the R&B list. It's been so overused that a lot of people forget what a genius work of songcraft this is, especially in the era it was released where life wasn't so pleasant for a lot of the people listening to this, but it took you away where it didn't matter. Wise feelings today.
