"Mainline" was a club hit for the New York-based R&B group Black Ivory. Appearing on their album Hangin' Heavy, the song was written by Leroy Burgess, who was a member but was actually taking a break from the group, and sung by Russell Patterson. On Billboard magazine's Disco Top-80 chart, the single peaked at #57 in 1979.
