Disco Dessert 8/27/19 - "Got To Be Real" from Cheryl Lynn...

"Got To Be Real" was a club classic from R&B singer Cheryl Lynn, who originally got her big break by actually losing an episode of The Gong Show in 1976. Appearing on her self-titled debut album, the song was written by Cheryl with Toto's David Paich and producer David Foster. The entire Cheryl Lynn album charted as one entry on Billboard magazine's National Disco Action Top 40 chart, with "Star Love" and "You Saved My Day" joining "Got To Be Real" as the tracks listed. The set peaked at #11 on that Disco chart in 1979, as well as spending a week at #1 on the R&B chart and #12 on the pop Hot 100.
