"The Beat Is Mine" was a club hit for singer Vicky D. The 12" vinyl single was the sole commercial recording for the New York artist, and was written by Andre Booth, who produced the song with Gary Turnier. The song climbed to #11 on Billboard magazine's Disco Top 80 chart in 1982.
