Tony Carey - "A Fine Fine Day"
from the album Some Tough City (1984)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #22 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 8

Today's Song of the Day is by California-born singer/songwriter/keyboardist Tony Carey, who was a part of the British heavy metal band Rainbow in the late seventies. Going solo, Tony released his first solo album in 1982, and had two minor hits with "I Won't Be Home Tonight" reaching the top-10 of the rock chart. In addition to that he also fronted a band called Project P that was more progressive rock in nature, and went to #4 on the rock list with "Why Me" the following year.

In 1984, Carey recorded his sophomore album Some Tough City as a solo set. The first single from the set, the self-written "A Fine Fine Day", would be his biggest hit to date...

"A Fine Fine Day" would go on to top the Mainstream Rock radio chart as well as become Carey's first top 40 hit in May of 1984.

Up tomorrow: A Spanish heartthrob takes a toke for his first big hit duet.
