Brit Sweep: July 7, 2013...

It's the end of a long, hot weekend, and time to check out the songs reaching the just-released official charts in Britain...

The new top-selling record in the UK this week is the first solo single by British soul singer John Newman, "Love Me Again". Newman's profile has already been built by leading lead on drum and bass act Rudimental's #1 hit "Feel The Love" and top-20 follow-up "Not Giving In"....

15-year old singer/songwrier Gabrielle "Gabz" Gardiner, who finished seventh on the last edition of Britain's Got Talent, impressed Simon Cowell enough to have him release her self-penned song "Lighters (The One)", and it enters the chart at #6.

British/Irish girl-group the Saturdays follow up their first #1 hit "What About Us" with the rap-speckled "Gentleman" at #14...

Remixer and producer Russ Chimes enters the chart at #40 with the 90's housetastic "Turn Me Out", which I think I'd like twice as much with more lyrics...

P!nk returns with the fourth single from her The Truth About Love album. "True Love" features Lily Rose Cooper, formerly known as Lily Allen, who has topped the UK charts twice with "Smile" and "The Fear"...

Singer/songwriter Lewis Watson debuts at #69 with his first hit "Calling"...

Australian duo Empire Of The Sun come in at #83 with "Alive". In 2008, they took "We Are The People" up to #14...

That does it for this week's Sunday musical tea. I'll be back tomorrow with another Song of the Day, part two of this week's "album sweep", and my "robbed hit" of the week. Cheers!
