Rock Sweep: July 13, 2013...






I'm ready for round two of today's "chart sweeps" checking out the latest songs to make the radio charts in Billboard magazine, and this time out it's the newest on rock radio...

On the aggregate Rock Airplay chart, Imagine Dragons won't let go of #1 for an 18th week with "Radioactive"....

The top debut at #40 are California newcomers Smallpools with "Dreaming". It also moves up to #34 on the Alternative chart...

Coming in at #45 are Christian alt-rockers P.O.D. with "Beautiful". It's up to #15 on the Mainstream rock panel...


All That Remains arrives at #48 with "Asking Too Much", the second single from their A War You Cannot Win album. It moves to #14 on both the Mainstream and Active Rock chart...


The last entry at #50 is grunge heroes Soundgarden with "Halfway There",  which is also in the top-30 on the Mainstream and Active rock formats...


...and onward toward the rock format subcharts...

 On the Mainstream Rock panel, Michigan hard rock group Pop Evil score their first #1 hit with "Trenches"...

 Metalcore act Motionless in White are from Scranton, Pennsylvania, and they rock in the high entry at #39 with "America"...


California rockers Trapt topped the Mainstream rock chart with their first two singles, "Headstrong" and "Still Frame", and they're back at #40 with the second single from their Reborn set, "Love Hate Relationship"....


Over at the Modern Rock/Alternative format, The Neighbourhood chill out at #1 for a sixth non-consecutive week with "Sweater Weather"...

The sole debut here at #38 is a record that was a big hit in Britain. London indie-rock group Bastille originally went to #2 with the song that's my "Rock Pick of the Week", "Pompeii"...


Meanwhile, on the Triple-A (adult album alternative, or "Hipster rock") chart, Walk Off The Earth sit on top for a second week with "Red Hands"...

Leaping in at #15 is John Mayer with his veiled shotback at Taylor Swift with "Paper Doll"....


Los Angeles indie-folk group Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes are in at #26 with "Better Days", the leadoff track from the upcoming self-titled third album ...


...and crossing over to this format at #30 are Daft Punk with "Get Lucky"...



On the harder-edged Active Rock panel, Pop Evil's "Trenches" takes over the #1 spot, while the aforementioned Motionless in White and Trapt singles are the debuts at #37 and #38 respectively...

Lastly, on the older-skewing Heritage Rock list, Shinedown reign for a seventh week with "I'll Follow You"...

The sole debut at #25 is British heavy metal band Heaven's Basement with "Fire, Fire"....
