French Sweep: July 30, 2013...

Good afternoon, gang, I'm ready to cross the Atlantic to check out the songs making the official sales chart in France this week, as Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" commands the #1 position for a sixth non-consecutive week.

It's another week devoid of any big releases, as the highest debut of the week doesn't come until down at #56. 17-year-old Martin Garrix is in with an underground club hit "Animals"...

Rihanna returns with another ballad at #83, "What Now". It's the eighth track from her Unapologetic album to reach the top-100 in this country...

Justin Timberlake arrives at #85 with the discofied first single from his upcoming second part of The 20/20 Experience, "Take Back The Night"...

French electronic dance duo Klingade debut at #86 with their first appearance on the top-100 with "Punga", my "French Pick of the Week"...

the LOL Deejays from Bucharest, Romania, score their first dance hit at #92 with "Portilla de Bobo" featuring Minelli & FYI...

American indie-pop duo Capital Cities bring their top-20 US pop hit "Safe And Sound" to French shores as it comes in at #98....

The final debut of the week at #100 is French/Moroccan rapper La Fouine with "Quand Je Partirai" ("When I Leave"). Seven of his singles have made the top-40 here, with 2007's "Tombe Pour Elle" ("Fall For Her") reaching #15...

That's it for this week's French musical rendezvous...I'll return later to cross the border to check out the latest in Germany. Au revoir!
