Soul Sweep: August 4, 2012...
Hey guys, it's time for part three of this week's "chart sweeps" of the music charts in Billboard magazine. This time out we'll sample the new tracks on this week's R&B/Hip-Hop and Adult R&B lists.
On the main R&B/HipHop chart, Kanye West's "Mercy" hangs on for another week at #1.
The highest debutis from rapper Rick Ross, who's CD God Forgives, I Don't drops next Tuesday. The third charting single from it, "3 Kings", comes in at #60...Ross has had six top-10 R&B hits, including the #2 "Aston Martin Music" in 2010...on his new one he gets an assist from fellow powerhouses Dr. Dre and Jay-Z...(NSFW)

Slurring rapper Tyga, born Michael Stevenson, had a pop and R&B top-10 last year with "Rack City". The fifth charting single from his major-label debut Careless World: Rise Of The Last King is "Make It Nasty" at #85...(NSFW)
One row under Tyga at #86 is Meek Mill with the track "Burn" featuring Big Sean, from Sean's album FFOE.
I don't know what I'm watching on Chachillie's debut at #96, "Rome Is Burning".
Marcus Cooper, alias Pleasure P, from the R&B group Pretty Ricky, scored two top-5 R&B hits from his debut album, with "Boyfriend #2" making #2. His sophomore record, Marcus Cooper, is due in August, and the first single from it, "I Love Girls" featuring Tyga, arrives at #97...he's "Lesbionic"?
Meanwhile, on the Adult R&B chart, John Legend and Ludacris' "Tonight (Best You Ever Had)" remains at #1.
Brooklyn's Will Downing enters the chart at #36 with "One Step Closer"...he's charted 18 songs on the main R&B chart, the highest being #13 "I Try" in 1991...
Newcomer John Michael comes in at #37 with "Sophisticated Lady"...
Finally, gospel artist/pastor Jason Nelson pops in at #40 with "Shifting The Atmosphere" ...
