Rock Sweep: August 4, 2012...
Hey guys, time for part two of this weeks "chart sweeps" of the latest songs on Billboard magazine's weekly music charts. This time out we'll sample the latest to hit rock radio.
On the main Rock Songs list, Green Day pull a coup and come in all the way at #1 with "Oh Love". The song is on their upcoming album Uno!, which is the first of three albums (of course Dos! and Tre'!) that will be released between September 2012 and January 2013. The track also comes onto the Modern Rock/Alternative radio list at #7, and the Triple-A list at #16, the highest debut on each. The trio has had eight #1 Modern Rock singles in their 18 years, including "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams", which made it all the way to #2 on the pop chart...

The other new song on the main rock chart, at #22, also comes in at the same rank on Modern Rock. It's the California alt-rockers No Doubt, who have had two #2 hits on the Modern Rock chart in their history, "Don't Speak" and "Ex-Girlfriend". Their new one previewing their September release Push & Shove is "Settle Down"...
Meanwhile, over on the Modern Rock list , as Linkin Park's "Burn It Down" takes over the #1 spot for the first week, Ellie Goulding's Top-5 pop hit "Lights" makes it appearance at #40. I admit I'm still shocked about the reception to this song, since it's really understated for a pop number. Now bring back "Starry Eyed" as the followup!
And on the Triple-A list, while the Lumineers "Ho Hey" stays on top, the Killers' "Runaway"comes in up at #18. It's already top-20 on the Modern Rock chart and Rock Songs list as well.
and the biggest album seller of this year so far, Adele, sneaks on at #30 with the fab album track "I'll Be Waiting"...Triple-A radio was the first to make her "Rolling In The Deep" a #1 single....
Royal Albert Fucking Hall! Priceless!
Stay tuned, in an hour and a half I'll bring you the latest on the R&B charts. Rock on!
