Rock Sweep: July 21, 2012...

Hey guy, thanks again for stoppin' by, it's time for part two of today's "chart sweeps" of this week's music charts in Billboard magazine of what is selling and being played in the radio. This time out is the newest on the Rock Songs, Alternative/Modern Rock, and Triple-A (hipster radio) lists...

The highest debut on both the Rock Songs and the Triple A chart is by venerable jammers the Dave Matthews Band, who come in at #42 on Rock Songs and all the way up at #12 on Triple-A with "Mercy" (not to be confused with the Kanye West track)

Canadian rocker Mark Kasprzyk records these days as Redlight King, and the musician and part-time car-racing presenter hit the top-3 on the rock chart last year with "Bullet in My Hand". He's back at #46 with "Comeback", which was featured in the movie The Avengers...

South African postgrunge outfit Seether debut at #48 with the fourth single from the excellent Holding On To Strings Better Left To Fray, "Here And Now"...

and at the base #50 position is by Pennsylvania band Halestorm, who had a good last few months, with a #2 rock hit with "Love Bites (So Do I)" in May, while their album track "Here's To Us" was used by Glee in an episode performed by star Rachel Berry in regionals. The York County locals enter at #50 with "I Miss The Misery"...

Meanwhile, over on the Alternative/Modern Rock radio chart, there's only one new song, and it's the Black Keys who follow their #1 hit "Gold On The Ceiling", which this week drops to #2, with "Little Black Submarines" at #32...

And besides the aforementioned Dave Matthews Band, over on the Triple-A chart the Avett Brothers bring their folk-rock to #25 with "Live And Die"...

...while personal favorite Mater Hawthorne arrives at #29 with a song from the album I feel you must get, How Do You Do, called "No Strings"...

That's it on the rock side. In 90 minutes I'll bring you the latest R&B songs to hit the charts. Rock on!
