Aussie Sweep: July 4, 2012...
Hey folks, I hope everyone in America is enjoying the Independence Day...I'm headin' off to work, but before I do, it's time for this week's "Aussie Sweep", with a look at the music hitting down under...
With all the hoodoo with the Voice Australia figuring on last week's chart, this week is the opposite - only one new song hits the top-50 for the first time, and it's American band Train's followup to "Drive By", and it's called "50 Ways To Say Goodbye" at #44, and the new video clip for it is out this week...
So since this is only round two of this feature, I'll run through some songs doing well just here, as well as local acts you ay not know of yet. Hey, Gotye was once in that league last year...

At #17 is American rapper T-Pain, with a track that hasn't even made the top-100 here, but is a big hit in Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea (where it was a charttopper). It's "Turn All The Lights On" featuring singer Ne-Yo...
Voice mentor Delta Goodrem comes in at #25 with her 11th song to either hit #1 or #2 here, with "Sitting On Top Of The World"...
Sydney-born Matt Corby was the runner-up on Australian Idol back in 2007, and now has a big hit at #27 with the Into The Flame EP...
Melbourne rapper 360 is at #30 with "Child"...

New Zealand-born singer and TV presenter Ricki-Lee (Coulter) who is another Australian Idol alum, placing seventh in the 2004 second season of the show. She's had five top-10 hits in Australia, and her latest is at #31, "Do It Like That"...
Further proving the dominance of singing competitions down under, Guy Sebastian, who won the first season of their Idol, and now is a judge on that country's X Factor, pops in at #34 with his former top-10 hit, "Gold"...and it captures the Bruno Mars gig quite nicely...
And finally at #48, born in the West African country of Nigeria but now calling Australia home, singer and dancer Timomatic (Tim Omaji) parlays his exposure of So You Think You Can Dance and Australia's Got Talent into a hit with his former top-10 "If Looks Could Kill"...

Cheers all!
