Songoftheday 7/1/13 - Never thought it would be so rough and I wonder if I have enough, to keep from breaking down no mercy in this town..

Olivia Newton-John - "Livin' In Desperate Times"
from the album Two Of A Kind (Original Soundtrack) (1983)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #31 (two weeks)
Weeks in the Top-40: 5

Today's Song of the Day is by Australian singer/actress Olivia Newton-John, who starred in the film Two Of A Kind with fellow Grease-alum John Travolta in 1983. While it was a flop in the theaters, the soundtrack managed to sell over a million copies. The first single released from the record, "Twist Of Fate", became a top-5 pop hit at the beginning of 1984. After a duet with Travolta, "Take A Chance" missed the pop chart (though it went to #3 on adult contemporary radio), Olivia's follow-up to that was the power-pop of "Livin' In Desperate Times", written by Barry Alfonso and Tom Snow (the latter would co-write "Let's Hear It For The Boy", a #1 from the same year)...

"Livin' In..." became another top-40 hit for ONJ in March of 1984.
