Song of the Day 6/6/12: Well I never thought I'd make it here in Hollywood...

Stevie Nicks - "After The Glitter Fades"
from the album Bella Donna (1981)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #32 (one week)
Weeks in the top-40: 4

Last April I featured Stevie Nicks' most recognizable solo tune, "Edge Of Seventeen", from her #1 album Bella Donna. "After The Glitter Fades" was released as the followup and fourth and final single from that LP, and it remains my favorite Stevie song. I remember hearing it for the first time in Wildwood in the summer of 1981, as the water slide park on Morey's Pier played the album early in the morning (the best time to be there) before the later crowds demands more rock and dance fare.

Not only did the song make the pop and adult contemporary (soft-rock) top 40, but also graced the country charts as well with play at more progressive stations.

In 1984, Glen Campbell included the song in his Letter To Home album.

Up tomorrow: Lawrenceville Prep grad strings along a long, wishful title.
