"The Mexican" was a big from hit for DJ/remixer/producer John "Jellybean" Benitez. Appearing on his debut album Wotupski!?!, the record was a remake of the club hit by the Bombers from 1978, which in itself was a cover of a rock song from the British rock band Babe Ruth written by Alan Shacklock from 1972. Jellybean's version featured vocals from Jenny Haan. On Billboard magazine's Dance/Disco Top-80, the single spent a week at #1 in 1984,
