Robbed hit of the week 11/1/21 - Alan Jackson's "Gone Crazy"...

"Gone Crazy" - Alan Jackson
from the album High Mileage (1998)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #43

This week's "robbed hit" comes from country music singer Alan Jackson, who nearly claimed his first crossover top-40 hit in the beginning of 1999 with "Right On The Money", the second single from his seventh studio album High Mileage. His follow-up to that uber-cute honky tonk ditty was the ballad "Gone Crazy".  Written by Jackson and produced by Keith Stegall, the song is a sad tale of heartbreak where Alan can't handle the pain, but does do with such sweet harmonies that it makes the sorrowful medicine go down better....

While "Gone Crazy" climbed to #4 on Billboard magazine's Country Singles chart, it stopped just short of the crossover Hot 100 top-40 at the same place "Right On The Money" did in May of 1999. Internationally, the single went to #2 on the Canadian Country chart. But don't worry, Jackson will finally make good and make it to the Songoftheday series on his next try.
