"Pump Up The Volume" was a big club and radio hit for the dance act M/A/R/R/S, a collaboration between the groups A.R. Kane and Colourbox. Appearing on the soundtrack to the movie Bright Lights, Big City, the song was written by Martyn and Steve Young, and produced by Martyn with John Fryer. On Billboard magazine's Dance Club Play chart, the single spent two weeks at #1 in 1987, while reaching #13 on the American pop chart and #1 on the British Singles chart.
