"If You Should Ever Be Lonely" was a huge club hit for singer Val Young. Appearing on her debut album Seduction, the song was written by Young with Fred Jenkins, with the latter producing the track with Levi Ruffin Jr. On Billboard magazine's Dance/Disco Club Play chart, the single spent three weeks at #1 in 1986. It also peaked at #21 on their R&B Singles list.
