twostepcub's music chart for October 15, 2021...

Friday's here, and it's time to run down my top 100 "hit" tunes from the previous week. Foo Fighters hold tight at the top for a third week, while Elton John and Dua Lipa (pictured above) leap into the runner-up spot. Former big hits from Modest Mouse, Rise Against, Sigrid, Justin Moore, and Parmalee drop off my list, while songs from Shane Codd, Walker Hayes, and Joel Corry/Jax Jones/Charli XCX/Saweetie make the biggest jumps (moves of 10+ places highlighted in red). And under the chart everything is Spotify playlisted for five and a half hours of the biggest in pop, rock, R&B, country, and dance music. Native American summer, indeed...

The Zac Brown Band returns with the highest debut of the week at #88 with "Same Boat". The song is from the country group's seventh major-label studio album, The Comeback, which is released today...

Lil Nas X now has three songs on my list from his album Montero, as "Industry Baby" at #7 and "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)" at #41 is joined by my favorite cut from the album, "That's What I Want", at #90...

Elton John now isn't the only 70's rock veteran on the chart as Santana is back at #93 with "Move", which reunites them with "Smooth" singer Rob Thomas and brings on American Authors (who are also at #74) along for the ride...

Neo-soul singer Anthony Hamilton arrives at #95 with his latest, "You Made A Fool Of Me". It's from Love Is The New Black, which came out last month...

French DJ icon David Guetta, who is already here on Becky Hill's "Remember" at #32 and Galantis' "Heartbreak Anthem" at #39, pops in at #99 with "If You Really Love Me (How Will I Know)", an interpolation of the Whitney Houston classic with BBC Radio DJ Mistajam and singer John Newman (brother of Eurovision finalist James)...

The final newbie of the week comes from Nigerian singer Wizkid, who slips in at #100 with his international smash "Nwantiti (Ah Ah Ah)" featuring fellow countryman Joeboy and Kuami Eugene from Ghana...
