Disco Dessert 10/9/21 - "Africanism" by Kongas...

 

 

"Africanism" was a big club hit for French disco act Kongas, put together by producer/artist Cerrone. Appearing on their second album Africanism, the song was written and produced by Cerrone. On Billboard magazine's National Disco Action Top-40 chart, the Africanism album was listed as a single entry, with the title track, "Dr. Doo-Dah" (which I featured previously), and a cover of the Spencer Davis Group's rock hit "Gimme Some Lovin'" listed as key DJ cuts. The record peaked there at #3 in 1978.
