twostepcub's music chart for October 1, 2021...

Friday's here, and it's time to run down my top "hit" tunes from the previous week. Dave Grohl's Foo Fighters soar to #1, while the Weeknd (pictured above) holds tight in the top ten. Former big hits from John Mayer, Robin Thicke, and Dierks Bentley drop off my chart, while songs from Nathaniel Rateliff, Lil Nas X/Jack Harlow, and Imagine Dragons make the biggest jumps (moves of 10+ places highlighted in red). Under the list I have everything Spotify playlisted for five and a half hours of the biggest in pop, rock, R&B, country and dance music. And into October we go...

There are six songs making their debut on my chart this week (highlighted in blue), and if you click on any of them, you'll connect to that artist's official website for more information on them. And here they are on video, after the break...

(Click below to see the rest of the post)

Ed Sheeran rockets in with the top debut all the way up at #35 with "Shivers", the third song from his upcoming album = to make my chart, after "Bad Habits" (which is still up at #6) and the promo track "Visiting Hours"...

Country music traditionalist Jon Pardi arrives at #86 with the Tex-Mex beach tune "Tequila Little Time", the third single from his stellar third album Heartache Medication...

Singer/songwriter and LGBT music icon Brandi Carlile comes in at #88 with "Right On Time" from her album In These Silent Days, which is released today...

Never say that miracles don't happen, especially in music. Swedish pop legends ABBA are releasing a new album Voyage later this fall, and one of its songs pops on my list, bringing the group's first appearance on my chart in almost forty years, where "When All Is Said And Done" was on my top 100 way back when I was just a teenager. They're back at #97 with "Don't Shut Me Down"...

Country crossover trio Lady A (don't start me on the name thing) return at #98 with "Like A Lady", a preview of their upcoming ninth studio album What A Song Can Do...

The final newbie of the week comes from Drake, who slips in at #100 with his recent #1 pop hit "Way2Sexy" featuring Future and Young Thug. The track nips the chorus from Right Said Fred's 1991 #1 single "I'm Too Sexy"...
