Songoftheday 6/3/21 - With every passing moment thoughts of you run through my head, every time that I'm near you I realize that you're heaven sent...

"So Into You" - Tamia
from the album Tamia (1998)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #30 (two weeks)
Weeks in the Top-40: 15

Today's song of the day comes from Canadian singer Tamia, who had scored a top-40 pop hit in the spring of 1998 with the first single from her debut album "Imagination".  Her follow-up release was the midtempo love song "So Into You". Written by Tamia with producers Tim Kelley and Bob Robinson and interpolating the song "Say Yeah" by 70s funk titans the Commodores that also gave Lionel Richie and Ronald LaPread writing credit, the song doesn't break any ground lyrically, but Tamia's voice shines at the end of the record, buoyed by the bouncy bassline....

"So Into You" became Tamia's second top-40 pop hit in August of 1998. The song returned her to the top ten on Billboard magazine's R&B chart at #7. A third release from the Tamia record, the mournful ballad  "Loving You Still", was a minor R&B hit at #78.
