"I Am Somebody" was a club hit for the British-based act Jimmy James & The Vagabonds, led by Jamaican singer Jimmy James. Appearing on their album You Don't Stand A Chance If You Can't Dance, the song was written and produced by British/Indian musician Biddu. On Record World magazine's Disco File Top-20, the single peaked at #8 in 1975. It also went to #62 on Billboard magazine's R&B chart, and #94 on the pop Hot 100.
