Songoftheday 6/30/21 - My desire is to please you, honey I'll concentrate on you...

from the album Inside Of You (1998)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: 26 (three weeks)
Weeks in the Top-40: 11

Today's song of the day comes from R&B singer Aaron Hall, who landed his first top-40 pop hit after his former group Guy split (for the first time) in the summer of 1994 with "I Miss You".  After an aborted attempt for the trio to reunite a year later, Hall re-emerged in 1998 with his second solo disc Inside Of You. The first single from the project was "All The Places (I Will Kiss You)", written by Hall, Nathan Clemons, and producer Manuel Seal. The song definitely follows the R. Kelly seduction vein, using all the male stripper style buzzwords to get a woman's attention. The music video turns it a little left, having Hall trying to convince a friend's woman that he's not right for her and he can do so much better in the lovin' department (perhaps a nod to a famous producer like Kelly or Guy bandmate Teddy Riley). It's nothing groundbreaking for sure, but it fit the mold radio was looking for at the time.

"All The Places (I Will Kiss You)" became Hall's second solo top-40 pop hit in November of 1998. The song also climbed #8 on Billboard magazine's R&B chart, his third solo single to make that level. The Inside Of You album, released in October of that year, got to #55 on the Billboard 200 sales tally, and almost made the top ten on the R&B albums list at #11.

Despite the modest success of the single and album, there were no other singles released from the set. Hall reunited with Guy within a year for a third album in 2000, and the group landed their own first top-40 pop hit. After that, Hall went solo independently, and released a one-off single "Why You Tryin' To Play Me" featuring verses recorded of the late Notorious B.I.G. at the close of 2000. which popped on to the R&B chart for a month, stalling at #96.  His most recent album has 2005 mostly-ignored Adults Only: The Final Album
