Today's song of the day comes from the new jack swing-styled vocal group Jodeci. Coming up to 1996, their third album The Show, The Afterparty, The Hotel had spun off a top-20 pop hit with the lascivious track "Freek'n You" in the summer of 1995. The second single from the record would be the straightforward ballad "Love U 4 Life". Written and produced by bandmate Donald Degrate (as "Devante Swing"), the song was a seductive booty jam for such an innocently-titled song, and foretelling to some of K-Ci and JoJo's material after they left...
"Love U 4 Life" became the group's sixth top-40 pop hit in America in January of 1996. The song also climbed to #8 on Billboard's R&B chart. Internationally, the single made it to #23 in the UK.
