"The More I Get, The More I Want" was a club hit for the late soul singer Teddy Pendergrass. Appearing on his debut solo album Teddy Pendergrass, the song was written by the production team of Gene McFadden and John Whitehead along with Victor Carstarphen. On Billboard magazine's National Disco Action Top-40, the entire album charted as one entry, with "You Can't Hide From Yourself", "I Don't Love You Anymore", and "The More I Get, The More I Want" singled out as highlights. It rose to #7 on the list in 1977.
