Disco Dessert 2/11/20 - "Frenesi" from the Ritchie Family...

"Frenesi" was a big club hit for the disco act the Ritchie Family, who were neither a family nor named Ritchie, but a trio of female singers (Cassandra Ann Wooten, Gwendolyn Oliver, and Cheryl Mason Jacks) supported by an orchestra-size group of studio musicians. Included on their debut album Brazil, whose title track spent 7 weeks at #1 on the disco chart as a single, "Frenesi" was a remake of a 1940's jazz tune from Alberto Dominguez. On Record World's Disco File Top-20 chart, the rest of the Brazil album charted as one entry, with "Peanut Vendor" and "Frenesi" singled out, and it climbed to #4 in 1975.
