Disco Dessert 10/3/19 - "Magic Bird of Fire" from the Salsoul Orchestra...
"Magic Bird Of Fire" was a club hit for the legendary studio group the Salsoul Orchestra. Appearing on their album Magic Journey, the song was written by producer Vincent Montana on a base interpolation of a song called "Firebird" from Russian composer Igor Stravinsky. On Billboard magazine's National Disco Action Top-40 chart, the Magic Journey album was combined as one entry, with this song, "Getaway", and "Run Away" featuring Loleatta Holloway listed as the prime cuts. It reached #3 on the list in 1977, spending five months (20 weeks) on the chart.
