"What Can I Do For You?" was a hit single for the eclectic soul/disco act LaBelle, featuring the legend Patti LaBelle. Appearing on their album Nightbirds (the one with "Lady Marmalade"), the feisty track was written by Edward Batts and James Budd Ellison, and produced by New Orleans soul king Allen Toussaint. While the track never made the Disco/Dance Tracks chart in Billboard magazine, the song rose to #8 on the R&B chart and #48 on the pop Hot 100...
