Soul Sweep: June 11, 2016...






We're at the "hump" of this week's 'music sweeps', sampling the notable debuts on the charts in Billboard magazine, and this time I'm serving up the latest hits on R&B radio...

On their main R&B/Hip Hop Airplay chart, rapper Desiigner stays on top for a second week with "Panda"....

Rapper/reality show fodder T.I. is back at #36 with "Dope". The single, which features neo-soul singer Marsha Ambrosius, is from his upcoming album The Dime Trap. Grade: D

Malaysian indie-soul artist Yuna takes her top-20 Adult R&B hit "Crush" featuring Usher to the main chart at #48. It was a former "Soul Pick" back in March. Grade: C



Rapper 2 Chainz rings in at #49 with "MFN Right (Remix)" featuring Lil' Wayne, from his ColleGrove album that went to #4. Grade: F


Meanwhile, on the older-skewing Adult R&B chart, Guordan Banks scores his first #1 hit with "Keep You In Mind"...

 Lite-jazz/soul singer Eric Benet drops in at #23 with "Sunshine". Grade: B-


Singer/actress V Bozeman, lately most known for her part in the musical drama show Empire, is back at #30 with "You Can't Break Me" featuring Tyrese. Her collaboration with Timbaland, "Smile", went to #20, and this one grabs my "Soul Pick of the Week". Grade: B-


Lastly, on the Rhythmic format, whose stations include more dance-pop music in their playlists, Drake stays on top for a third week with "One Dance"...

Bebe Rexha moves in at #38 with "No Broken Hearts" featuring Nicki Minaj. Grade: D+



 Singer JR Castro, from Las Vegas, slips in at #39 with "Right Away". Grade: D
