Songoftheday 6/12/16 - Just a urchin livin' under the street, I'm a hard case that's tough to beat...

"Paradise City" - Guns N' Roses
from the album Appetite For Destruction (1987)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #5 (two weeks)
Weeks in the Top-40: 11

Today's song of the day comes from the hard rock band Guns N' Roses, who broke out of the seedly Los Angeles underbelly to become one of the biggest acts of the decade, with their album Appetite For Destruction spinning off a #1 pop hit with "Sweet Child Of Mine", and a re-released "Welcome To The Jungle" reaching the top 10 as well. "Paradise City" became the third top-10 pop hit from Appetite For Destruction in March of 1989. The song also climbed to #14 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock radio chart. Internationally, the single topped the chart in Ireland, and made the top ten in New Zealand (#2), Sweden (#3), the Netherlands (#4), the UK (#6), and Switzerland (#7).
