Grammy Sweep 2013: The Country Side...

We're up to the country nominees for this years' Grammy awards...

(Click below to see the rest of the post)

Best Country Album:

Zac Brown Band - Uncaged

Hunter Hayes - Hunter Hayes

Jamey Johnson - Living For A Song: A Tribute To Hank Cochran

Miranda Lambert - Four The Record

The Time Jumpers - The Time Jumpers

There was many snubbed efforts to make room for Johnson's capable but recycled Cochran album and the Time Jumpers, which got votes probably from everyone on the record.

Who I think should win: Miranda Lambert
Who will probably win: Johnson, but Lambert may pull this out.

Best Country Song

Carrie Underwood - "Blown Away"

Ronnie Dunn - "Cost Of Livin'"

Eli Young Band - "Even If It Breaks Your Heart"

Alan Jackson - "So You Don't Have To Love Me Anymore"

Eric Church - "Springsteen"

Some odd choices here...not necessarily the five I would've whittled this down to (probably none of these would've made the cut except Carrie).

Who I would like to win: Alan Jackson (it's a great song, in a perfect world)
Who probably will win: Carrie Underwood.

Best Country Solo Performance:

Dierks Bentley - "Home"

Eric Church - "Springsteen" (see above)

Ronnie Dunn - "Cost Of Livin'" (see above)

Hunter Hayes - "Wanted"

Blake Shelton - "Over"

Carrie Underwood - "Blown Away" (see above)

Another redundant category from the "Song", Hunter would have a shot except he played the instruments himself (a no-no in Nashville)..

Who I think should win: Hunter Hayes
Who will probably win: Carrie or Blake.

Best Country Duo/Group Performance:

Eli Young Band - "Even If It Breaks Your Heart" (see above)

Little Big Town - "Pontoon"

Taylor Swift & Civil Wars - "Safe And Sound"

The Time Jumpers - "On The Outskirts Of Town" (see above)

Don Williams f/Alison Krauss - "I Just Came Here For The Music"

A lot of gladhanding filler here (TJs, Williams), but Little Big Town should pull it out, save for the Academy throwing Taylor a bone.

Who I Think Should Win: Little Big Town.
Who Will probably win: LBT, though watch for Taylor, it is her most interesting song ever thanks to the Civil Wars.

That's it for the country side, I'll be back with the infamous dance nominations and the big awards later...
