French Sweep: October 23, 2012...


Hey gang, it's time now to check out the latest songs selling in France, according to their official music charts. This week Rihanna stays at #1 for a third week with "Diamonds"...

The highest debut this week is by French singer/songwriter Emmanuel Moire, with a song from his 2009 album L'Equilibre titled "Sois Tranquille" ("Be Quiet"). It's a song about his twin brother, who passed away after a car ran him over. He also came out of the closet that same year. His song barrels on to the chart at #21, because of his involvement on the French version of Dancing With The Stars, where he danced to this song as a personal story. Moire has had four previous top-10 hits in this country, with "Je Fais De Toi Mon Essentiel" ("I'll Do for You My Needed One")...

Legendary British rockers The Rolling Stones enter at #44 with their latest single, "Doom and Gloom". They have topped the chart in France twice before, with "Angie" and "Miss You"...


German new-wave group Trio place their 1982 cult hit "Da Da Da" on the chart for the first time at #56 thanks to its exposure in a commercial for carmaker Citroen...


Rapper Big Ali was born in Queens, but now calls Paris his home, and he has gone to #2 here two years ago on Lucenzo's "Vem Dancar Kuduro".  He's back at #70 with "WatiBigAli" featuring Wati B...


Swedish DJ Otto Knows (real last name Jettman) comes on at #82 with he's already taken to the top-10 in Belgium and the Netherlands, as well as the top-40 in England. It's called "A Million Voices"...


Another car commercial tie-in, Bob Dylan's "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" for Peugeot, arrives at #88, even though the ad version is by another band, Neimo...


Singer Mai Lan scores her first hit with "Easy" at #94...
