Songoftheday 10/15/12 - I saw your eyes & you made me smile, for a little while I was falling in love...
A Flock Of Seagulls - "Space Age Love Song"
from the album A Flock Of Seagulls (1982)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #30 (two weeks)
Weeks in the top-40: 7
Today's Song of the Day was the second top-40 hit for the folically notable new-wave band A Flock Of Seagulls. The British quartet led by brothers Mike and Ali Score had their first success with their debut single "I Ran", which made the US top-10 but crazily missed the top-40 in the UK. Their followup was a song whose title didn't show up in the lyrics, but rather was guitarist's Paul Reynolds' impression of the sound.
Reynolds is such an awesome guitarist, it's easy to forget from the visuals.
The single made the top-30 on the US pop chart, as well as nicking the rock radio chart at #59. And even more, it became the band's first top-40 hit in their home country, peaking at #34.
