Today's Song of the Day is by the pop band Oxo, who were led by Cuban-American singer Ish Ledesma, who was the lead singer of the funk group Foxy, who had a top-10 hit in 1978 with "Get Off". After that band split up, Ish went on to put together OXO, who were more of a funky pop band than a pop funk band. Their only hit, "Whirly Girl", was written by Ledesma about his wife...

After the one-hit status with "Whirly Girl", Ish would go on to put together the girl-group Company B with his wife and sister. They also had a single top-40 hit with "Fascinated". Meanwhile bassist Frank Garcia was the subject of an award-winning documentary Frank & Cindy in 2007.
