twostepcub's music chart for June 15, 2012...

Hey folks, it's time for the weekly chart of my top-100 tunes. This week Carly Rae Jepsen phones into the #1 spot for the first week, while swag-pop duo Karmin (pictured above)  jump into the top-10. Singles by Martin Solveig, Graffiti6, and Toni Braxton make the biggest jumps (moves of 10+ places marked in red), while a former big hit by Shinedown drops out. Link-O-Rama is still in effect, so you can click on any of the highlighted artist names to go to their official website for more information, tour dates, videos, and more. Hibachi?

There are eleven new songs on my chart this week (highlighted in green),  and here they are, along with a little about the artist, with links to their previous hits on video in orange.

The highest debut this week comes from house music pioneer Ralphi Rosario, whose music kept me dancing when I lived in Chicago in the late 80s. His biggest hit in the 90s was the thumper "Take Me Up" back in 1998. After a break of a decade on the dance charts as a lead artist (he's scored as "Rosabel" with partner Abel Aguilera as well), Rosario had a #1 club hit in 2009 with "Everybody Shake It" featuring singer Shawn Christopher, who had three straight #1 dance hits herself in the early 90s, including the classic "Don't Lose The Magic" in '92. The pair team up again this year for a remake of a song that topped the US dance club way back in 1981, "Menergy". Originally done by famed Megatone record label head Patrick Cowley, the song is brought into the new century quite nicely..

Kenny Chesney's last single, a pairing with Tim McGraw on "Feel Like A Rock Star", started off strong but petered out quickly, not even making the country top-10, and just dropping off my list this week. It's replaced by the second preview of his upcoming album, and it seems to have a little more traction. Here's "Come Over", and I'm glad he's embraced the 'dome'.

Denver-based folk rock band the Lumineers have their first hit that's now seen on TV plugging Bing. It's a top-5 hit on adult album alternative radio, and it's "Ho Hey"...

Scottish R&B singer Emeli Sande's debut album, Our Turn Of Events, is a keeper, and I bought an import copy back in the beginning of the year. It's now available in the States, and really worth picking up. She's already scored two #2 hits from it in England, "Heaven" and the sublime "Next To Me" (the latter now getting airplay in the US). Her latest British single is top-20 in sales and top-10 in airplay there, and it's "My Kind Of Love"...

Australian country singer Keith Urban is taking time off between albums to play judge/mentor on his homeland's version of The Voice, and in the meantime his new single off the soundtrack to the military flick Act Of Valor is racing up the country charts, and debuts on mine. Here's "For You"...

British alt-rock powerhouses Coldplay recruit the unavoidable recent tabloid queen Rihanna for their latest epic single off Mylo Xyloto, "Princess Of China"...

Newcomer Dustin Lynch was born right in Nashville, so it's fitting he's here with his first single going top-20 on the country chart, "Cowboys And Angels"...

This last season's winner of American Idol was Philip Phillips, who was a clerk in Georgia before trying out for the show. He extended the record of young boy singers (mostly with guitars), and his coronation song just spent a week in the US top-10. It's thankfully not a karaoke remake, but an original (though with a common title) "Home"...

And for the other music competition going on, the (far superior) Eurovision song contest pitting acts representing 43 countries was just held in the city of Baku in the Central Asian country of Azerbaijan. The winner comes from the Scandinavian country of Sweden, and Loreen had previously scored a top-10 hit in her homeland in 2009 with "My Heart Is Refusing Me", which she competed for the chance to represent her country in 2011. After a minor second single, she found the third time's the charm, as her third, the Eurodancetastic "Euphoria", took the prize for Sweden this year...

Italian DJ duo Mario Romano and Salvo Sapienza, recording as Tacabro, have their first pan-European smash with a Latin-flavored dance track featuring Cuban singer Martinez Rodriguez that's made the top of the charts in Denmark and Israel, as well as the #2 spot in France, with "Tacata"...

The final new song on my list is by 18 year old Armenian-American singer Skye Stevens with his top-20 dance hit "Takes All Night"...

From the looks of the steamy video, the dome isn't the only thing Kenny's embraced.
