Today's song of the day comes from the R&B/Hip Hop trio TLC, who started off the promotion of their second album CrazySexyCool with their first #1 pop hit "Creep" in the beginning of 1995. For their follow-up single, "T-Boz", "Left-Eye", and "Chilli" released a sensous ballad from Babyface called "Red Light Special". He also produced the track, which compares their desires to a sale in the "red light district", for better or for worse...
"Red Light Special" climbed all the way to the runner-up spot on the American pop chart in April of 1995, where it stayed for three weeks. The song also spent a week at #3 on Billboard magazine's R&B chart. Internationally, the single made the top ten in New Zealand at #9, while reaching the top-40 in the UK (#18) and Canada (#19).
