Songoftheday 5/1/19 - Taking a day at a time dealing with feelings I don't want to hide, learning to love as I go baby without taking you along for a ride...
"If You Go" - Jon Secada
from the album Heart, Soul and a Voice (1994)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #10 (four weeks)
Weeks in the Top-40: 27
Today's song of the day comes from pop singer/songwriter Jon Secada, who had stepped out of the shadow of being Gloria Estefan's back-up singer and landed four big hits with "I'm Free", "Angel", "Do You Believe In Us", and the top ten smash "Just Another Day". In 1994, Secada returned with his sophomore effort Heart, Soul, and a Voice. The lead singler, "If You Go", was again written by Secada and long-time collaborator Miguel Morejon, and covered the same lost love theme as his first big hit...
"If You Go" became Secada's second (and so far final) top ten American pop hit in July of 1994. The song was a massive success at "easy listening" radio, spending eleven weeks at #2 on Billboard magazine's Adult Contemporary chart, and lingering on the list for 50 weeks. Internationally, the song peaked at #3 in Canada, and was a top-40 hit in the UK and the Netherlands (both at #39).

The Spanish-language version of the song, "Si Te Vas", was a #1 hit on the Latin Songs chart in Billboard...

And again on Brazilian TV in 1993....
And finally, in concert in 2009...
