Songoftheday 5/6/19 - And now that you've come around to seein' it my way, you won't regret it baby and you surely won't forget it baby...
"Your Body's Callin'" - R. Kelly
from the album 12 Play (1993)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #13 (two weeks)
Weeks in the Top-40: 15
Today's song of the day comes from R&B singer/songwriter/producer/litigant R. Kelly, whose second album 12 Play, the first to be credited just to himself, had already spun off two big pop hits with "Sex Me" and the #1 "Bump N' Grind", the latter hitting the top of the American pop chart in the spring of 1994. While "Bump N' Grind" was climbing the charts, another album track, "It Seems Like You're Ready", gained enough airplay to appear on both the pop (#59) and R&B (#21) airplay charts in Billboard magazine without having to be issued as a physical single. The actual third single release from 12 Play would be the smooth midtempo booty call jam "Your Body's Callin'". Written and produced by Kelly, it became another huge hit, especially in the cities...
"Your Body's Callin'" became the third top-20 pop hit from 12 Play in June of 1994. The song spent two weeks at #2 on Billboard magazine's R&B chart. Internationally, the single climbed to #19 in the UK, while just missing the top-40 in New Zealand at #43. Kelly's next single, "Summer Bunnies", was a riff off of the Spinners' "It's A Shame", and climbed to #20 on the R&B chart and #55 on the pop Hot 100 (in Britain, it was a top-40 hit at #23. Lastly, at the end of the year, the ballad album track "For You" gained enough traction to chart at #58 on the R&B airplay chart without a single release.

A special remix of the song, featuring his protege/wife Aaliyah, was included on the CD single...
And here's R. Kelly performing the track live in concert in 2007...
