Songoftheday 8/3/14 - When the feelin' is ended there ain't no use pretendin', don't ya worry...

Bryan Adams & Tina Turner - "It's Only Love"
from the album Reckless (1984)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #15 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 9

Today's Song of the Day comes from Canadian mainstream rock star Bryan Adams, whose Reckless album had proven to be in the upper echelon of 80s sets, spinning off five top-20 pop hits in the U.S. with "Run To You", "Somebody", "Summer Of '69", "One Night Love Affair", and the #1 ballad "Heaven". Rolling further along Adams' released a sixth single from the 10-track effort, a collaboration with recent comeback story Tina Turner that proclaimed "It's Only Love". Written by Adams with longtime partner Jim Vallance and co-produced with "big-sound" king Bob Clearmountain, the single from the first album's listen seemed like a guaranteed radio hit...

"It's Only Love" became the sixth top-20 pop single from Reckless in America in January of 1986, while also climbing to #7 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock radio chart. Internationally, the single made the top-5 in Sweden, and top-20 in Belgium, Ireland, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Adams' native Canada. It would be the last release from the album, and the energy of the record is fitting to close out the Reckless era.
