Billboard Hot 100 peak: #8 (one week)

Today's Song of the Day is by the British new-wave trio Thompson Twins, whose 1985 album Here's To Future Days had already scored them their second top-10 single with "Lay Your Hands On Me". "King For A Day" became the third and final top-10 pop single in America for the "Twins" in March of 1986, while also climbing to #13 on the Adult Contemporary (or "easy-listening") radio chart in Billboard magazine. Internationally, the single was a top-ten success in Sweden and New Zealand, but in England, where it was the third release after "Don't Mess With Doctor Dream" in a shorter synth-heavy version, stopped at #22.
