Today's Song of the Day comes from soul singer Freddie Jackson, whose debut album Rock Me Tonight had scored two big top-20 pop hits in 1985 with "You Are My Lady" and the title track. For the third single from the album Freddie revved up the tempo for the sassy "He'll Never Love You (Like I Do)", which has him channeling his inner Vandross at 100%...

"He'll Never Love You" became Jackson's third top-40 pop hit in February of 1986. On the R&B chart, the single was his third to make the top-10 stopping at #8, and it even crossed over to the adult contemporary list in Billboard at #28. Over in England the song popped onto the singles charts at #81.
