Songoftheday 8/8/14 - Call me good call me bad, call me anything you want to baby...

Wham! featuring George Michael - "I'm Your Man"
from the album Music From The Edge Of Heaven (1986)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #3 (two weeks)
Weeks in the Top-10: 12

Today's Song of the Day comes from the British pop duo Wham!, whose second album Make It Big lived true to its title, with four big hit singles including three American #1's with "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go", "Careless Whisper", and "Everything She Wants". After a long stretch between albums, the duo finally released a one-off single in the UK in September of 1985. "I'm Your Man", giving lead singer and basically musical majority of the pair a featured credit, was written and produced by the singer, and its bouncy retro-like flair hearkened back to their "Go-Go" days..

"I'm Your Man" became Wham!'s fifth consecutive top-3 hit in the U.S. in February of 1986. The single also crossed over to Billboard's Adult Contemporary (#13), Dance Club Play (#42), and even R&B (#55) charts. In their native Britain, where the single was released a couple months prior, the song was their fourth to top the singles chart, as they also did in Ireland and New Zealand.

George Michael took the song out on his 1991 live shows..

British dance music singer Lisa Moorish covered "I'm Your Man" in 1995, with George Michael himself singing backup. The track reached #24 on the UK charts....

George used that arrangement for his own live tour in 2008...

Up tomorrow: a female rocker uses her naughty bits for ammunition.

LOVE this song. I actually crushed on the cheesy percussionist in the background. Always wondered why they focused on him more than they did on Andrew, but I never complained.
