Bryan Adams - "Run To You"
from the album Reckless (1984)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #6 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 12

Today's Song of the Day is by Canadian rock singer/songwriter/guitarist Bryan Adams, whose third album Cuts Like A Knife broke his career in the States, with three top-40 hits in "Straight From The Heart", the title track, and "This Time".  After his tour behind the album, Adams recorded and released his fourth effort Reckless at the end of 1984. The album was a big-sounding anthemic arena rock affair, with Bob Clearmountain again assisting on production, and the first single, "Run To You", was a tornado of angst and emotion that swept us up at the end of the year...

"Run To You" became Bryan's second top-ten pop single in the US in January of 1985, while topping the rock radio chart for a month in November/December of the previous year. In his native Canada, the single peaked at #4, while across the pond in Britain it stalled right under the top-10 at #11.
