Today's Song of the Day was the second solo single from former J. Geils Band lead singer Peter Wolf, who scored a top-20 hit in 1984 with the title track from his debut solo set Lights Out. For its follow-up, Wolf released "I Need You Tonight", a rather generic pop/rock tune written by the singer with guitarist Peter Bliss...

"I Need You Tonight" became Peter's second top-40 pop hit in November of 1984, while scaling up to #22 on the rock radio chart in Billboard magazine.
